"Pro" runners -_-
Ok guys,
are there such things as "Pro runners"? I run Droks, and i highly disagree there are. Many of my running friends disagree too. The best runners i know hate the term. Then someone was claiming to be "pro" running to grotto or whatever, and i started this discussion in Droks, and the people defended the runner claiming there are such things, rather lamely.
Also, claiming to be 100% at getting to your destination? Come on -_- some spawns = certain death, but anyway...
What are your thoughts?
I hope this is the right place to put this xD
Thanks

It is just self-advertising.

If you are charging money to "run".. Then you are a pro runner.. Because you are being payed for a service. Meaning you profess in the area of running, and are sponsered to complete a task for someone.. Pro. Being an expert is entirely different. Saying 100% completion is just assinine... It doesn't work that way on 75% of common runs, or more. However, claiming that you have an extremely good completion record "near" 100% would insinuate that you are very good at what you do.
Pro runners are anyone charging money. A professional is someone payed to do something.
Expert runners are anyone amazing at running. An expert is someone who is better than most of the population at said task.

I agree with you completely, but it just attracts more attention from the lesser users that don't know much about the game.

Pre-NF I hated the term, because 100% success on a wammo just wasn't possible. At my best (and I never ran random groups, just friends) I could get through about 50% of the time without dying. Some spawns were just impossible. Then NF came out and it seemed like every Dervish or Assassin around could stroll through regardless of the spawn. Maybe those guys had problems too, I dunno. I sort of stopped caring about pve after Proph.

pro = professional
pro runner = guy who earns his money with running.

I think there are people that a good at runs. Perhaps that qualifies them as good even pro.
I had a "pro" runner once...he didn't even make it halfway, died many times, then had to leave, then wanted payment...so yeah, if a person is going to advertise as pro, they'd better make sure they are one.

I love people who advertise(read: spam) using word pro. Makes it easier for me to ignore them.

If someone says Pro, I suggest not going with them, if they have a pretty message without Experienced, 100% success, never die, etc, I go with them.

Depends what you mean by pro. If its people who earn gold by running, then sure, loads of people do. If its "Skill" you are refering to, then probably not these days, power creep on skills has made it pretty easy for any dervish, assassin or monk variant (even on secondary, add the PvE skills too if you still struggle. When it was just Prophesies, thenyes, there were genuinely skilled runners. You have to know what you are doing to run Droks with no hex protection.

In my experience, and this goes for ALL things (Not just running, but stuff like UWSC pugs as well), the ones who advertise that they are "pro" are average at best. The best of the best generally don't use any buzz words ("pro," "exp, etc.), but the problem is neither do the people who are bad. So, by going with someone claiming to be "pro," you're getting a guaranteed okay service, but if you go with someone who doesn't claim anything, you run the risk of ending up with a totally inexperienced person who has no idea what they're doing.

The use of powerful descriptive words or phrases like "pro" "experienced" "100% success" more often than not means the runner is an idiot.I've used runners (rarely) and found the larger majority of those that spam "test running for tips" or whatever tend to be far better and more easy going.
Strange world?

0% financing! 90 days same as cash!
These things are posted for the sole purpose of attracting people who don't understand the truth behind them. It's essentially the same tactic for running/advertising in GW. "Pro runner, I'm going to get a great run!" is just a bad mentality.

"Pro" is thrown around a lot. There were many good runners back in the day. All the LBS guys were good, if they failed you had the choice of try again or 100% of your money back.
A decent runner is someone who has completed all campaigns and can run you anywhere. Running isn't that difficult as even I can do it, but knowing spawn locations etc seperates the decent runners from the average joe.
Have to disagree with the person who said runners were "stupid". Many of the old school people made millions from running, this was back in the days when not everyone had stacks upon stack of ecto, and well before free 'gifts' could make you an instant millionaire.

I have to agree that most "pro" runners I have tried to get a run with rarely get past the first worm hill.
However that being said a blind drunk monkey can run droks using the D/A builds. I enjoy running on my monk, much more fun, always for free and only takes around 14 minutes on average.

Truly Pro runners are those whom you can pay up front and know they will get the job done. Runners of the Rose is probably the best example I can think of.
